VHF Radio

Kordia operates and maintains a nationwide network of VHF sites. These are used by vessels to transmit and receive distress, urgency, safety and other maritime related information.

Designed and implemented by Kordia in 1994, the network has grown over the years to provide almost total coastal coverage on VHF Ch16—including, just recently, the Chatham Islands.

VHF Ch16 is continuously monitored. The Maritime Operations Centre is committed to setting the benchmark for achieving the best response times to emergency calls by radio, anywhere in the world, and accurately relaying this information in a timely manner to SAR authorities.
