Earth VTS Service

Earth VTS Managed Services is a 3D viewing option for AIS. Utilising Google Earth, the controls are simple and intuitive, and have been likened to today’s PlayStation controls for their ease of use.

Google Earth is used to display the Automated Identification System targets, as the information is overlaid onto the Earth VTS graphical display from data streamed over the Internet.

National or regional display options

The Earth VTS Managed Service is available on a national or regional basis.

For a national service:

  • Data from all seventeen receive sites is delivered to the user

For regional coverage:

  • The base service comprises of the coverage area you have selected
  • This can be extended at anytime to include additional areas as necessary
  • Any number of additional areas can be provided for an associated increase in fee

What you’ll need to use Earth VTS

The Earth VTS service uses a standard Google Earth application, so you will need a copy of this installed on your computer. You’ll also need:

  • An AIS unit installed on each vessel to be monitored
  • An internet connection
  • A single username/login—to use for one concurrent session at a time
  • A minimum one year contract term
  • To purchase additional/portable licenses if you require additional user access
