Coverage with Kordia's Automated Identification System

We use our national network of high sites to provide receive coverage of New Zealand’s coastal waters.

In some cases, the achieved land-to-vessel distance is in excess of 150-kms. This is unparalleled by any other land-based Automated Identification System.

Seventeen sites are used to provide complete coverage at 4m ASL around New Zealand’s coastal waters including:

  • Some of the tallest and most strategically placed sites for providing maritime coverage in New Zealand
  • High-sensitivity multi-receiver systems providing long-range offshore coverage
  • Maritime coverage focused antennas with built in redundancy for AIS receiver input

Reliable maritime coverage

Coverage checks show we consistently achieve one-and-a-half-times greater coverage compared to figures derived from use of the IMO formula for range determination.

In addition to the Maritime VHF Radio Network, we also operate:

  • Fully redundant server and storage components providing a high availability service
  • 24/7 monitoring service manned by professional maritime operators and technicians
